About the ECG Technician Program

Learn to operate ECG equipment and work as an ECG Technician in a cardiology office, non-invasive cardiac diagnostic department in a hospital, medical clinic, or other medical facilities.

Through this program, you will learn to perform electrocardiograms, heart monitoring, and various stress testing procedures. Upon completion of the program, certification is recommended and some states require licensing.

Beginning and Advanced ECG

Beginning Electrocardiography (ECG) Technician students (ECGT 101) will learn to operate a single-channel electrocardiography unit, methods of mounting tracings, fundamental anatomy of the cardiovascular system, associated medical terminology, and evaluation of tracings, including recognition of rates and basic rhythms.

Advanced ECG Technician students (ECGT 102) will learn advanced terminology, rhythms, heart blocks, hypertrophies and infarction patterns, numerical axia determination, and 3-channel machine operation.

This program prepares you for a job as an Electrocardiography Technician. As an Electrocardiography Technician, you will perform vascular procedures in hospitals, outpatient centers, diagnostic labs, medical offices, and specialty hospitals and clinics.

Enrollment Procedures

Students who are new to 精选AV must submit an application to the College:

  1. Complete the 精选AV online Credit application.
  2. Complete the 精选AV Credit Placement Test.  Students who have an AA/AS degree or higher can sign a Placement Test Waiver but must show proof of English.
  3. Attend the orientation or meet with a counselor.
  4. Register for class online or at the first class meeting.

Orientation

The Program orientation is advised but not mandatory.  The orientation is offered once every semester at the John Adams Center, Gym Bldg. 103.  Students who are unable to attend may register the first evening of class.

The orientation is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.  Due to limited space, visitors and children are not recommended to attend.
